I like to bake anything: cookies, cake, cheesecake, and especially brownies. After many trials and errors using my mom’s recipe and random recipes on the internet, I found the formula that never fails using only basic ingredients, with minimum kitchen mess (raise your hand if you love baking but hate to do the dishes afterward!).
Ingredients :
- 200 gr chocolate (dark/sweet/milk, up to your liking)
- 100 gr butter (salted/unsalted, whatever you have in your fridge)
- 80 gr sugar (I use granulated sugar, but powdered sugar works too)
- 2 eggs
- 100 gr all-purpose flour (cake flour works fine too)
- 4 tbs cocoa powder (no need for fancy stuff, I always use normal chocolate milk powder from the supermarket)
- chocolate/oreo/nuts/dried fruits as you like for decoration and extra oomph! If you like something extra sweet, you can even top the brownies with my caramel recipe here.
How to make :
- Preheat the oven to 170C (340F)
- Melt 200 gr chocolate and 100 gr butter using a double boiler, low heat
- After they melt, add 80gr sugar, mix well
- Remove the bowl from heat, mix a little more, then add 2 eggs after the batter cools down (!! if the batter is too hot, the eggs will be some parts cooked and it won’t mix !!)
- Sift together 100 gr all-purpose flour and 4 tbs cocoa powder (too lazy to sift? Just dump them and mix well!)
- Make sure all ingredients are mixed, then pour it into a cooking sheet layered 21 x 21 cm pan (if your pan is small, for example, if the pan you have is 15 x 15 cm, make only half the recipe. If the batter is too thick, it won’t be as good to eat)
- Bake for 20-25 minutes depending on your oven
- While waiting, prepare your decoration! I usually melt some more chocolate, around 100 gr, and crushed some oreo or nuts.
- Remove the brownies from the oven, now your house should smell like chocolate, enjoy it.
- Let it cool a little in the pan for a few minutes, then start decorating to your heart content.
*The pan doesn’t have to be a square. A friend of mine made this recipe in a round pan and sprinkled the brownies with nuts, and it’s beautiful! Just make sure the batter isn’t too thick (around 2-3cm in thickness is perfect)
*If you don’t have a cooking sheet, brush the pan with butter so you can remove the brownies easily after baking. I much rather use a cooking sheet to reduce the dishes after though.
*Every oven has its quirks. I bake this for 25 minutes, but your oven might be different.
I hope you enjoy baking this and I want to know how you decorate your brownies! Spread the love!
